Short Description:

Hepatitis E virus IgG Test Cassette is used for qualitatively detection of Hepatitis E Virus IgG antibodies in human serum, plasma (EDTA, heparin, sodium citrate) or whole blood (EDTA, heparin, sodium citrate). The test is to be used as an aid in the diagnosis of viral hepatitis, which is caused by Hepatitis E Virus.

Hepatitis E virus is a self-limiting infectious disease with a mode of transmission, clinical manifestations and prognosis similar to hepatitis A. However, the incidence of hepatitis E in children is low, and the high mortality rate of hepatitis E in pregnant women is characteristic of this type of hepatitis. Its epidemiological characteristics are also similar to hepatitis A. It is transmitted by the fecal-oral route, has obvious seasonality, mostly seen in the rainy season or after floods, is not chronic, and has a good prognosis.

If anti-HEV-IgM and anti-HEV-IgA are negative, but anti-HEV-IgG is positive, this indicates a previous HEV infection and, in combination with liver function, it can be assumed that the HEV infection may have occurred in the past and that the body has recovered and has immunity against HEV.

Anti-HEV- IgG is a protective antibody that can be detected in the acute phase of hepatitis E. It has a high titer and lasts for about 6 months.
